The Godhead

I recently attended a memorial service for a little eight year old boy killed in a car accident. The days leading to the service had been hard to fathom. A young child happy and so full of life one minute gone in a blink of an eye. I and my family sat there grieving with his family and friends. We listened to the words of the preacher who is not of the same faith as I and my family. In his words of trying to comfort the family he said some things that really bothered me. He talked of God watching us here and seeing that we were so imperfect that we’d never make it back on our own so in His infinite wisdom and unconditional love He parted the heavenly curtain and came down as the Son. In his understanding God and Jesus are one being. That brought to my mind a conversation a friend had with a young man on this same subject. The young man had said that he believed that Jesus prayed to himself for himself while on this earth and that He answered himself. That sounds so deceitful and I know that my brother and Savior, Jesus Christ lived a perfect life and would show no deceit. My faith and the scriptures teach that we have a Heavenly Father and a brother, Jesus Christ. They are two separate and distinct beings with one purpose. The apostles John and Paul both wrote that they saw Jesus sitting on the right hand of God. The scriptures tell us that The Father spoke from heaven after His son was baptized by John the Baptist. Jesus spoke of His Father often, prayed to His father and when He was nailed to the cross, He commended His spirit into the hands of His father. He always gave all of the glory to His father. Even Paul said he prayed to the Father of the Lord Jesus Christ. I know that different people interpret scripture in different ways but I don’t know how the scriptures I have read and studied have been so misinterpreted and how anyone can go solely on what preachers and others tell them. Everyone should study and pray to know truths for themselves. In my faith we have a living prophet on this earth today. He gives such great counsel and wisdom and even he will ask us to pray to know for ourselves if what he tells us or teaches us is true. When the scriptures tell us that God the Father, God the Son, and the Holy Ghost are one it is the same concept of a husband and wife being one. They are all one in their purpose and united in all that they do but still are separate and distinct individuals. I am so grateful to know that I have a Father in Heaven that loves me. He loved me so much that he allowed His beloved son to come to this earth and show us by His example the things we need to do to get back to the Father. He allowed His son to be tried and tested and even sacrifice His life for us His brothers and sisters. Our Heavenly Father also gave us the Holy Ghost to comfort and guide us to truths. I know that Jesus Christ would do nothing to deceive us. He loved us so much that He atoned for our sins in the Garden of Gethsemane and then died for us on the cross so that we would have a way to overcome death. He is alive today and I am grateful for His sacrifice and love for me. I know that when I pray I am praying to my Heavenly Father through my Savior, Jesus Christ. I know He hears and answers my prayers. If you are reading this pray to know if what I have written is true or not. I know that you will receive an answer if you sincerely want to know. If you find my words to be true, I can lead you to even more truths. I leave these words with you in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
